How to uninstall Slack on a Mac.
Slack has no separate uninstaller. Slack's own steps are to quit it, move the app to the Trash and clear its data folder, which is in a different place if you installed Slack from the Mac App Store.
Uninstall Slack
- Quit Slack (Slack › Quit Slack, or ⌘Q).
- In Finder, search for
Slack, set Kind to Application and choose This Mac, so you find every copy. - Move each copy of Slack to the Trash.
- Press ⇧⌘G, go to Slack's data folder (below) and move what's inside it to the Trash.
Where Slack keeps its data
- Downloaded from slack.com:
~/Library/Application Support/Slack - From the Mac App Store:
~/Library/Containers/com.tinyspeck.slackmacgap/Data/Library/Application Support/Slack
Your messages and files live in your Slack workspace, not on your Mac, so removing this folder only signs you out and clears local data.
Afterwards
- Check System Settings › General › Login Items & Extensions for anything still named Slack; see login items. An app that's still in your Trash can stay listed there until you empty the Trash or restart; that's normal macOS behaviour.
- Empty the Trash when you're sure. Emptying the Trash is permanent.
Based on Slack's own help article, checked October 2026. Menu names can change between versions.
Then check for anything Slack left behind.
Once the app is gone, Pangalin Uninstaller's free Leftovers scan lists files left behind by apps that are no longer installed, by name and size. Apple's files are never included. It also shows where each one is and moves the ones you choose to the Trash in one go, with Undo.
