How to uninstall Little Snitch on a Mac.
Little Snitch removes itself properly when you drag it to the Trash in Finder: Finder removes its system extensions and the app removes its helpers. Its developer warns against other removal methods.
Use Finder, not a remover app. Objective Development says removing Little Snitch with Terminal or third-party removers (including ours) can leave its system extension behind. Follow their steps below.
Uninstall Little Snitch
- On macOS 15.3 or later, first open System Settings › General › Login Items & Extensions, click ⓘ next to Network Extensions, and choose ••• › Delete Extension for Little Snitch. Do the same under Endpoint Security Extensions if it's listed.
- In Finder, open Applications and drag Little Snitch to the Trash.
- Restart your Mac.
If its extensions are still there afterwards, reinstall Little Snitch, open it and choose Help › Uninstall Little Snitch, then move it to the Trash.
Your rules and settings are kept in /Library/Application Support/Objective Development/Little Snitch and ~/Library/Preferences/at.obdev.littlesnitch.plist (with related at.obdev.littlesnitch.* files), in case you reinstall. Remove them for a clean slate.
Afterwards
- Check System Settings › General › Login Items & Extensions for anything still named Little Snitch; see login items. An app that's still in your Trash can stay listed there until you empty the Trash or restart; that's normal macOS behaviour.
- Empty the Trash when you're sure. Emptying the Trash is permanent.
Based on Objective Development's own help pages, checked October 2026. Menu names can change between versions.
Then check for anything Little Snitch left behind.
Once the app is gone, Pangalin Uninstaller's free Leftovers scan lists files left behind by apps that are no longer installed, by name and size. Apple's files are never included. It also shows where each one is and moves the ones you choose to the Trash in one go, with Undo.
