How to uninstall Adobe Acrobat on a Mac.
Adobe Acrobat and the free Acrobat Reader are removed differently: Acrobat has its own uninstaller, and Reader goes to the Trash.
Uninstall Adobe Acrobat
- Quit Acrobat.
- In Finder, open Applications › Adobe Acrobat and open Acrobat Uninstaller.
- Select Adobe Acrobat, then Open, then Uninstall.
- Enter your Mac password and restart.
Uninstall Acrobat Reader
- Quit Acrobat Reader.
- In Applications, Control-click Adobe Acrobat Reader and choose Move to Trash.
- Restart your Mac.
If Acrobat came with a Creative Cloud plan, see uninstalling Adobe Creative Cloud.
Afterwards
- Check System Settings › General › Login Items & Extensions for anything still named Adobe Acrobat; see login items. An app that's still in your Trash can stay listed there until you empty the Trash or restart; that's normal macOS behaviour.
- Empty the Trash when you're sure. Emptying the Trash is permanent.
Based on Adobe's own help articles, checked October 2026. Menu names can change between versions.
Then check for anything Adobe Acrobat left behind.
Once the app is gone, Pangalin Uninstaller's free Leftovers scan lists files left behind by apps that are no longer installed, by name and size. Apple's files are never included. It also shows where each one is and moves the ones you choose to the Trash in one go, with Undo.
