How to uninstall the Wacom driver on a Mac.
Wacom's driver has its own uninstaller inside Wacom Tablet Utility. Wacom then lists leftovers to check, because a clean removal is often needed before a reinstall fixes a problem.
Back up your settings first. Uninstalling removes your Wacom preferences (pen buttons, mappings), so Wacom recommends backing them up before you start.
Uninstall the driver
- Disconnect the tablet (unplug USB, remove the wireless receiver, or turn off Bluetooth).
- Open Applications › Wacom Tablet › Wacom Tablet Utility.
- Under Tablet Software, click Uninstall, and enter your administrator password if asked.
- Restart your Mac.
- Move any leftovers below to the Trash, empty the Trash and restart again.
Leftovers Wacom lists

~/Library/Caches/com.wacom.*,~/Library/Preferences/com.wacom.Tablet-Mapping.plistandcom.wacom.wacomtablet.plist
Older Bamboo drivers may also leave folders named Wacom, Wacom Utility or Bamboo.
Afterwards
- Check System Settings › General › Login Items & Extensions for anything still named Wacom; see login items. An app that's still in your Trash can stay listed there until you empty the Trash or restart; that's normal macOS behaviour.
- Empty the Trash when you're sure. Emptying the Trash is permanent.
Based on Wacom's own support article, checked October 2026. Menu names can change between versions.
Then check for anything the Wacom driver left behind.
Once the app is gone, Pangalin Uninstaller's free Leftovers scan lists files left behind by apps that are no longer installed, by name and size. Apple's files are never included. It also shows where each one is and moves the ones you choose to the Trash in one go, with Undo.
