How to uninstall Tunnelblick on a Mac.
Tunnelblick has its own Uninstall button. Uninstalling deletes your VPN configurations and settings, so export them first if you might need them.
Uninstall Tunnelblick
- Open Tunnelblick's VPN Details window and use Export Tunnelblick Setup to save your configurations.
- Disconnect all VPN connections.
- In VPN Details › Utilities, click Uninstall.
- If macOS asks to let it control Finder and System Events, click OK.
The Uninstall button is in Tunnelblick 3.8.5 and later. For older versions, Tunnelblick offers a separate Tunnelblick Uninstaller on its Downloads page: open it with Control-click › Open, click Uninstall, then restart.
Tunnelblick notes that reinstalling almost never fixes a problem, so if you're uninstalling to fix something, check its support pages first.
Afterwards
- Check System Settings › General › Login Items & Extensions for anything still named Tunnelblick; see login items. An app that's still in your Trash can stay listed there until you empty the Trash or restart; that's normal macOS behaviour.
- Empty the Trash when you're sure. Emptying the Trash is permanent.

Then check for anything Tunnelblick left behind.
Once the app is gone, Pangalin Uninstaller's free Leftovers scan lists files left behind by apps that are no longer installed, by name and size. Apple's files are never included. It also shows where each one is and moves the ones you choose to the Trash in one go, with Undo.
