How to uninstall Sophos Home on a Mac.

Sophos says not to drag Sophos Home to the Trash. Use its Remove Sophos Home app instead, which removes the protection components too.

Uninstall Sophos Home

  1. Press ⌘Space, type remove sophos home and press Return.
  2. Choose Continue and follow the prompts.
  3. Enter your Mac password and click Install Helper.
  4. Wait for it to finish, click Close, then restart your Mac.

If you can't find Remove Sophos Home, Sophos offers it as a download in its support article “How to uninstall Sophos Home on Mac” at support.home.sophos.com. On macOS 15 and later, macOS may block it at first: allow it in System Settings › Privacy & Security with Open Anyway.

Sophos also describes removing its system extensions by hand, which means turning off System Integrity Protection. We don't recommend that for most people; if you need it, follow Sophos's article exactly and turn SIP back on afterwards.

Afterwards

Based on Sophos's own support article, checked October 2026. Menu names can change between versions.

Then check for anything Sophos Home left behind.

Once the app is gone, Pangalin Uninstaller's free Leftovers scan lists files left behind by apps that are no longer installed, by name and size. Apple's files are never included. It also shows where each one is and moves the ones you choose to the Trash in one go, with Undo.
