How to uninstall the Epic Games Launcher on a Mac.
Epic's steps are to close the launcher, make sure nothing from Epic is still running, move it to the Trash and check a few Library folders for Epic files. Removing the launcher also removes the games you installed with it.
Your games go too. Epic says this removes every game installed through the launcher. Your progress is usually saved in your Epic account or the game's own cloud saves, but check before you start.
Uninstall the launcher
- Close the Epic Games Launcher.
- Open Activity Monitor, search for
Epicand quit anything still running. - Drag Epic Games Launcher from Applications to the Trash.
- Press ⇧⌘G and check these folders for items named Epic, moving any you find to the Trash:
~/Library/Application Support,~/Library/Caches,~/Library/Preferences,~/Library/Logsand~/Library/Cookies.
Epic lists these folders but not the exact item names inside them, so only remove items that are clearly Epic's.
Afterwards
- Check System Settings › General › Login Items & Extensions for anything still named Epic; see login items. An app that's still in your Trash can stay listed there until you empty the Trash or restart; that's normal macOS behaviour.
- Empty the Trash when you're sure. Emptying the Trash is permanent.
Based on Epic Games' own help article, checked October 2026. Menu names can change between versions.
Then check for anything the Epic Games Launcher left behind.
Once the app is gone, Pangalin Uninstaller's free Leftovers scan lists files left behind by apps that are no longer installed, by name and size. Apple's files are never included. It also shows where each one is and moves the ones you choose to the Trash in one go, with Undo.
