How to uninstall Carbon Copy Cloner on a Mac.
Carbon Copy Cloner has a hidden Uninstall CCC command. It deletes CCC's helper and your saved tasks straight away, so delete any CCC snapshots first if you're removing it for good.
Uninstall CCC
- If you're removing CCC for good, delete its snapshots first: select each volume in CCC's sidebar, select the snapshots in the Snapshots table and press Delete.
- Hold Option and choose Carbon Copy Cloner › Uninstall CCC….
- CCC deletes its helper and all saved tasks immediately, and moves the app and its preferences to the Trash.
Already deleted the app?
Bombich lists these leftovers. Restart first, then move them to the Trash and empty it:
/Library/Application Support/com.bombich.ccc/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.bombich.ccchelper.plist/Library/PrivilegedHelperTools/com.bombich.ccchelper- In your own Library:
Application Support/com.bombich.ccc,Application Support/CCC Stats Service, theCaches/com.bombich.cccfolders,Cookies/com.bombich.ccc.binarycookiesandPreferences/com.bombich.ccc.plist
Your backup disks and the backups on them aren't touched.
Afterwards
- Check System Settings › General › Login Items & Extensions for anything still named CCC; see login items. An app that's still in your Trash can stay listed there until you empty the Trash or restart; that's normal macOS behaviour.
- Empty the Trash when you're sure. Emptying the Trash is permanent.
Based on Bombich Software's own support article, checked October 2026. Menu names can change between versions.
Then check for anything Carbon Copy Cloner left behind.
Once the app is gone, Pangalin Uninstaller's free Leftovers scan lists files left behind by apps that are no longer installed, by name and size. Apple's files are never included. It also shows where each one is and moves the ones you choose to the Trash in one go, with Undo. It's free.
