How to uninstall Alfred on a Mac.

Alfred is removed with a drag to the Trash. Your workflows and settings live in its preferences, which you can keep or remove.

Uninstall Alfred

  1. Click the Alfred hat icon in the menu bar and choose Quit.
  2. Drag Alfred from Applications to the Trash.

To remove its settings too, Alfred lists ~/Library/Application Support/Alfred, its com.runningwithcrayons.Alfred-Preferences.plist and com.alfredapp.Alfred.plist in ~/Library/Preferences, and ~/Library/Caches/com.runningwithcrayons.Alfred. If you sync Alfred's preferences (for example to Dropbox), they're in that folder instead; deleting them loses your workflows.

Alfred's advice: its developers don't recommend app-cleaner tools for Alfred, because they can remove settings you meant to keep. If one did, restore Alfred's files from the Trash or Time Machine.

Afterwards

Based on Alfred's own help pages, checked October 2026. Menu names can change between versions.

Then check for anything Alfred left behind.

Once the app is gone, Pangalin Uninstaller's free Leftovers scan lists files left behind by apps that are no longer installed, by name and size. Apple's files are never included. It also shows where each one is and moves the ones you choose to the Trash in one go, with Undo. It's free.
