How to send a crash report.
When a Mac app crashes, macOS writes a crash report about it. If Pangalin Space Manager quits unexpectedly, it offers you that report the next time it opens. Nothing is sent unless you press Send Report. There's no automatic sending and no setting that turns it on.
After a crash
- Open Pangalin Space Manager again. At the bottom of the sidebar it says Pangalin Space Manager quit unexpectedly last time.
- Click View if you'd like to read it first. It opens exactly what would be sent, with your account name and the Mac's identifiers removed.
- Click Send Report to send it to Pangalin, or Don't Send. Either way, that crash isn't offered again.
- When it has gone, the sidebar says Crash report sent — thank you. If it couldn't be sent, it says why, with Try Again and Email Instead, which opens your own mail app with the report attached for you to send or not.
Crashes of Pangalin Space Manager's background helper are offered too, where macOS lets the app read them.
Send one later
Choose Help › Send Crash Report… to send the newest crash report macOS still holds for Pangalin Space Manager, even one you chose not to send before. If there isn't one, it says No crash reports. macOS clears old crash reports on its own schedule, so an old one may no longer be there.
What's sent, and what isn't
- Sent: the crash report macOS wrote, which says which code crashed, the app and macOS versions and the Mac model, plus the app version and build.
- Removed first: your account name, wherever it appears in a path, and the identifiers macOS puts in a report that identify your Mac rather than the crash.
- Never sent: file contents, file names from your scans, your email address or your licence key.
- It goes to Pangalin's own crash service, which is kept apart from the licence service. Reports are kept for 180 days, then deleted. Your IP address isn't stored with them.
The Privacy Notice covers crash reports in full.
