How to look around without changing anything.

Want to see what Pangalin Space Manager finds before you trust it with your files, or show someone else? Preview only lets it scan and explain everything while it can't change a thing, and a clean-up report saves what it found to a file. Both are free.

Switch on Preview only

  1. Choose Pangalin Space Manager › Settings… (⌘,) and click Privacy.
  2. Under Safety, switch on Preview only. Before your first scan, the Dashboard also offers Use Preview only.

While it's on, the Dashboard says Preview only is on: Pangalin Space Manager shows everything and changes nothing. Scanning, History and explanations still work. If you try to clean, move or compress anything, Pangalin Space Manager says nothing was changed, and offers Switch Preview Only Off. Automatic moves wait too.

Save a clean-up report

  1. After a scan, choose File › Save Clean-Up Report…, or click Save a report on the Dashboard.
  2. Choose PDF or Markdown.
  3. Click Save. The report lists items by name and leaves out your folder names, so it's safe to share.

The report lists what's Safe to clean, what Could move to an external drive and what's To review yourself, with sizes. Saving it changes nothing on your Mac, and nothing is sent anywhere.
