How to uninstall Ollama on a Mac.
Ollama is an app plus a command-line tool, and its models, often many gigabytes, live in a hidden folder in your home folder. Ollama's documentation lists every file it adds, so a complete removal is straightforward.
Models are deleted for good. They can be downloaded again, but that can take a while. To keep only some, remove the others with ollama rm first, or see deleting or moving AI models.
Uninstall Ollama
- Quit Ollama from its menu-bar icon.
- Move these to the Trash. In Finder, use Go › Go to Folder… for each path. The command-line link in
/usr/local/binasks for your password.
/Applications/Ollama.app/usr/local/bin/ollama~/Library/Application Support/Ollama~/Library/Saved Application State/com.electron.ollama.savedState~/Library/Caches/com.electron.ollamaand~/Library/Caches/ollama~/Library/WebKit/com.electron.ollama~/.ollama: your models and settings (press ⇧⌘. in Finder to show hidden folders)
- Empty the Trash.
If you moved your models elsewhere with OLLAMA_MODELS, delete that folder too.
Based on the developer's own instructions, checked October 2026. Menu names can change between versions.
Then check for anything left behind.
Once the app is gone, Pangalin Uninstaller's free Leftovers scan lists files left behind by apps that are no longer installed, by name and size. Apple's files are never included. It also shows where each one is and moves the ones you choose to the Trash in one go, with Undo.
