How to protect files with Never Clean.

Some folders should never be touched, however big they get: a project's build cache you rely on, a sample library, an app's data. Put them on Pangalin Space Manager's Never Clean list and it will never delete, clear or move them, or anything inside them. It's free.

Protect something

  1. Right-click any item in Pangalin Space Manager and choose Never Clean This. Or hover over a row and click its lock; once protected, the lock stays orange.
  2. To add something that isn't on screen, click Never Clean in the sidebar (⌘9), then Add Folder… or Add App…. An app you add has all its data protected.
  3. In a review sheet, click an item's lock to protect it and leave it out of this and every future clean-up.

Protected items show in review sheets under Left out — nothing here is touched, with the reason Kept because you protected it. Pangalin Space Manager won't uninstall an app on the list either; remove it from the list first.

The list stays on this Mac and doesn't change your free 5 GB.

The Never Clean page in Pangalin Space Manager: an empty Never clean list with Add Folder and Add App buttons, and Pangalin Space Manager also protects: AI tool sessions, browser extension data, licence and sign-in stores, plug-in and sample caches, and Group Containers of apps that are open.

What Pangalin Space Manager protects on its own

The Never Clean page also lists what's always left out unless you choose it yourself:

These are never ticked for you and always say Review. You can still choose one yourself, after reading what it is. Files an open app is using are left out too, with Kept because … is open and using it.

Unprotect something

Click Remove next to it on the Never Clean page, or right-click it and choose Remove from Never Clean. The same list is in Settings › Never Clean.

Just want a row out of the way? Never suggest this only hides it from suggestions; it doesn't protect it.
